The story begins in 1896 when my ancestor, Mr. Martin Morel, opened his textile printing establishments near Lyon. His success was rapid and his original creations accompanied and created textile trends throughout the 20th century. But, after these glorious years of intense creativity, the difficult context of the 80s precipitated the closure of the company ... Today, I want to pay tribute to the beauty of the creations developed for nearly a century by these artisans. Originally imagined for fashion, the strength of these works is expressed on all media, even the most daring. Each of our wallpapers, made in France, conveys this forgotten past and reinterprets a design from our textile archives. From the elegance of the lines of the 1930s, to the exuberance of the 60s and 70s, our collection of patterns is a journey through time, styles, fashions and I hope will offer you a rich and unique source of inspiration.
A family story... 5 generations separate Emmanuel and his grandfather... A true forgotten treasure, the archives of Maison Martin Morel are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for our design studio. The collection consists of drawings, gouaches, textiles, and books evoking all the trends between the end of the 19th century and the 1980s. A collection of floral, geometric, and figurative motifs, all witnesses of bygone eras, but whose creativity still inspires us. Some drawings are reissued identically, playing with scales and colors... others are broken down, recomposed, and recolored. Our goal is always the same: to extract the beauty of the present from our past. A contemporary past.
