At the origin of the Maison Martin Morel patterns...

PERIOD 1900

Founded in 1896 in Bourg de Thizy, Maison Martin Morel's business until 1982 was textile finishing. It all started with patterns printed on flannel, nansouck, and sateen. Many floral motifs, such as the Dahlia, are found. But also semi-plain patterns, such as the Wave. Today, the 1900 archives have been reworked in a spirit of poetry, simplicity, and innocence.

PERIOD 1930

During the 1930s, patterns were inspired by decorative arts and graphic trends. These were years heavily influenced by the Art Deco style. In our archives, we found many geometric creations and abstract patterns that were already very contemporary for the time! Pointillist patterns were born thanks to ingenious chemical processes and the technique of gnawing printing.

LOUIS AND ANDRÉ PERIOD (1950/1980)

The sixties arrived with the emergence of Pop Art and its surge of colors, each as exuberant and colorful as the next. It was the hippie movement that strongly influenced these years of patterns with a very marked floral universe. Among the house's patterns, we find tropical inspirations, references to the idols of the time such as the singer Antoine and the actress Brigitte Bardot.
